About DMPC

tpayne_photo.jpgThomas J. Payne is the founder of Direct Medical Practice Consulting, Inc (DMPC) in Tampa, Florida.

Prior to forming DMPC, Thomas was the Practice Manager for Hasan Medical Center in Tampa, Fl. In this role, he had direct interaction with senior level executives and was driving force behind the implementation and delivery of quality business management and patient services that led to an increase of 176% in revenue over a two year period.

Prior to Hasan Medical Center, Thomas was a Clinic Administrator for JSA Medical Group, where he was responsible for clinical operations that resulted in the clinic exceeding financial goals. His experience also includes positions as Program Director, Florida Prostate Cancer Network where he was responsible for community outreach and cancer support programs and Program Director, Medical Assistant Program handling career progression for over 500 students.

Thomas served in the military where he held positions as Training Program Administrator for Allied Health Services, Manager of Clinical Operations, Prevention Coordinator, Manager Emergency Services and Primary Care Clinic, where he managed a beneficiary's population of over 100,000 with 78,000 annual visits valued at $12.9M. His remarkable leadership and management skills were recognized as he received the honour of Medical Manager of the Year 2000 and 2001.

His experience has lead to him possessing knowledge in areas of practice development, managed care, capitation/full risk management, staff training, operational and ancillary services, quality management, patient relations, performance improvement, utilization review, billing/coding, provider templates, marketing, HR issues patient safety and continuing medical education. Thomas received his bachelor's degree from Saint Leo University, his associate degrees in Management from University of Maryland University College. He is an active member of the American Academy of Medical Management and Carrollwood Area Business Association (Tampa, Fl).

Thomas serves on the advisory board for several local colleges. He possesses an educator certificate in Florida and is a CPR Instructor with American Heart Association.
